Capella de S. Vicente

4Founded in 2021, Capella de S. Vicente is an offshoot of Capella Patriarchal (an ensemble primarily dedicated to promoting the treasures of Portuguese sacred music) and its primary objective is to promote choral practice as an integral part of individual development. Its core group of eight university choristers (with previous advanced musical training) gains experience through collaboration with the Capella Patriarchal musical team and the musical and stylistic training imparted by its artistic directors, João Vaz and Pedro Rodrigues. Capella de S. Vicente is a permanent contributor to the development of young singers through choral practice during school time, thanks to partnerships with four schools: Voz do Operário (Lisbon), Agrupamento de Escolas D. Dinis (Odivelas), Agrupamento de Escolas da Venda do Pinheiro (Mafra), and Agrupamento de Escolas Fragata do Tejo (Moita). Covering a wide repertoire, from Gregorian chant to contemporary music, the Capella de S. Vicente also has the mission of contributing to the renewal of excellency in liturgical music. Since its foundation, in partnership with the Patriarchate of Lisbon and the Rectory of the Church of São Vicente de Fora, its musical service has been organized into three cycles: masses with choir, musical visits to the Museum of the Patriarchate of Lisbon, and concerts in churches.
