A specialist in historical keyboards, born in Zaragoza, she won the First Prize in the Permanent Musical Youth Competition in 1996, in the classes of Harpsichord and Organ, an award that earned her numerous other recognitions. She joined the European Union Baroque Orchestra in 2001. She won the Best Conducting Award at the 2014 and 2017 GEMA Awards. She founded the ensemble La Tempestad in 2000. Her album Chaconnerie (IBS 2018) is a rare exploration of chaconnes for harpsichord from the sixteenth century to the present day. Silvia Márquez studied in her hometown with José Luis González Uriol and later, with a scholarship from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Dutch Government, at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where she studied harpsichord, organ, and pianoforte. She has premiered numerous works for solo instrument and chamber ensemble. She received the 2017 Leonardo Grant (Researchers and Cultural Creators) from the BBVA Foundation, thanks to which she released the CD Herbania and, recently, the world premiere recording of Salvador Bacarisse’s Harpsichord Concerto. She has been a harpsichord professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid since 2019.
