Born in Funchal, Carla Isabel Moniz began her musical education at the Conservatório – Escola das Artes da Madeira, in Victor Costa’s singing class, completing her Singing studies. In parallel to her lyrical singing, she completed a basic Piano course and studied Jazz Singing, also at the Conservatório, in partnership with Hot Club de Portugal. In 2008, she completed her degree in Singing at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, where she attended the class of Elsa Saque (2005) and Sílvia Mateus (2006-2008). She took the leading role in operas such as The Magic Flaute and Dido and Aeneas, in Lisbon, Almada and the Azores. In Madeira she has been actively working as a soloist, in concerts and festivals, having also participated in concerts as a soloist with the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira. In 2014 she completed her Masters in Music Teaching – Singing and Ensemble Music, at the Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco – Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas, working with Elisabete Matos and Dora Rodrigues. Between 2019 and 2021, she was a resident soloist at the Opera company: Operar.te, where she was the lead singer in the operas Il barbiere di Sivigla and Don Giovanni, on tour through Portugal. She has been teaching at the Conservatório – Escola Profissional de Artes da Madeira, since 2001, where she teaches Voice, Singing and Ensemble Class, and where she is artistic director of the Opera and Musical Theater Studio.
